Evo Root Canal Style Spray

I am having something of a hair crisis. About a month or so ago I had another Brazilian Blow Dry. I didn't really want to have it but I'd already paid for it. Since I'd had my hair chopped, I didn't really see the need. Anyway, I had it done and since then my hair has gone lankBrazilians really only suit long hair. I have no body. Driving me mad it is. I am patiently waiting for the stupid treatment to break down and wash away and am actively seeking shampoos with all the sulphur nastiness I can find.

In the meantime, I went to my hairdresser today for a cut and colour. The problem with shorter hair? It grows out faster. Layers require maintenance. Anyway, he used this little baby on my hair: Evo Root Canal. And it's excellent. Unfortunately they had sold out (always a sign of something good) and so I had to order some online when I got home. The good thing about any beauty crisis is that it's a reason to buy more products to solve the problem.

Silver linings and all that.

Guerlain - La Petite Robe Noir

I went to Selfridges today (buying a bikini, pity me) and I decided to check out this perfume as I've been wanting to try it for a while. I speak no French but I am clever enough to know this translates as little black dress. Which I think is a great name for a scent.

It's got cherries and roses going on. I sprayed some on my arm and kept sniffing for the next few hours. I so wanted to like this because look at the bottle. It's divine. But unfortunately it's far too sweet for me. CoverBoy took a sniff of my arm when I came home and pronounced it 'chavvy'. This is harsh and not entirely true but it does have a hint of the Angel about it. Not my thing at all.

I expect I shall survive on my perfume stash for now.

Rediscovering old loves

I was rooting around my make-up the other week and came across this little treasure. Nepal eyeshadow by Nars. I bought this about four years ago while having a SpaceNK makeover and wore it loads at the time and then something new and flashy came along and caught my eye. I decided to use it and wow - I'd forgotten how versatile this is. It's a perfect base colour, you can put a little bit on and then layer lashings of eyeliner and it's an effortless day time look.

It's slightly shimmery but not too much so and it stays put all day long. I am delighted to see it's still available. I love Nars make up, I might have to reinvestigate as I've not looked for ages.

By the way, I don't believe in this throwing away old make-up rule unless it's mascara. It's a ruse to make us buy more. Like I need any encouragement!

Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil

I have a new love. Oil. Well, actually I've been enjoying oil-based products for a while but pure oil on your face? It's a leap of faith but one I am very pleased I've made.

Last week I bought one of the Clarins facial oils having heard a lot of buzz. I was with my sister who said she wanted one and so it was a done deal as we sidled our way up to the Clarins counter. We had a delightfully helpful lady who explained there were different types depending on your skin. I went with the Combination/Oily one because the others were Very Dry or Dehydrated and I had a slight fear of applying oil designed for very dry skin.

You can mix it into your usual night cream (this is not a day treatment) or apply as is. I've been applying alone to get the measure of it. It smells absolutely divine. It's full of essential oils and I can't describe how heavenly it is; like you're in a high-end spa. You don't need much at all, just one or two drops. Warm it in your palms and then just press on to cleansed skin. That's it. It sinks in so you don't look like a greased up turkey ready for roasting.

I really am loving it and at £29, it's good value as I can see it lasting a long time. Recommended.
